2017: Le Grand Dèpart

The grape vines and olive groves were planted in 2004 and grew to maturity in this beautiful and secluded area of Paso Robles, California.

The blessing of this place is the "terroir" - the key component in making the highest quality wines possible.

"Terroir" is a French word used to describe all the aspects of the land and environment. In fact, "Terroir" just means "the complete and natural environment of the vineyard." We use a mix of traditional and modern vineyard management techniques to capitalize on the already brilliant natural conditions. An excellent terroir with sloppy management techniques will produce an equally sloppy wine.  Effort must be given to take the blessing of the land and improve upon it.

What's In a Name?

Velocissimo is an Italian phrase for "super fast."  The first part of the word, "velo," is French for bicycle. This name is a blend of traditional European words signifying our ties to European inspired wines and our love for cycling.
